What is Addiction?

What Is Addiction?

In society today a vast number of people suffer from a variety of addictions however most people imagine an addict or alcoholic to be homeless or a criminal but in most cases this is not true. The majority of people suffering from alcohol or drug dependency still have jobs or families although there are also those who have already lost these as a result of their addiction.

Addiction is often described in terms of someone having a physical compulsion and a mental obsession to drink or use drugs. This means that the addicted person experiences unusually strong cravings. It is common that the addicted person may well have tried to stop on several occasions but discovered that however strong their will power was, it was not strong enough to keep them permanently clean or sober.

To discover if you or your loved one has a problem please go to the dependency questionnaire.
